Property : Yellow liquid, freely soluble in chlorobenzene, diethoxy-membrane etc. Capable of being compatibly dissolved in water, alcohol and acetic acid. It enjoys strong reducing performance, capable of being oxidized into bromine by oxygen and other oxidants in the air.

Use : It is the basic material for the manufacture of various inorganic bromides such as sodium bromide, potassium bromide, etc. and some alkyl bromides such as methylene bromide , and ethylene bromide etc. Applicable to the synthesis of sedatives, anesthetics etc. in medicine. Also applicable in the refining of highly pure metals in metallurgy, or used as the separating agents for alkxy and phenoxy compounds, and in the synthesis of dyes and spices.
